Psychological Assessment

At KYCARDS we provide psychological assessment in the areas of anxiety, depression, attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder, socioemotional and behavioral functioning from age 3 through adulthood. Psychological assessment is a useful tool in determining treatment recommendations and finding appropriate accommodations for mental health needs.

Psychoeducational assessment allows our psychologists to assess cognitive strengths and weaknesses in order to facilitate recommendations and accommodations for academic success. With psychoeducational assessment, we assess the following areas:

  • Intelligence Quotient (IQ)
  • Academic achievementADHD
  • Learning differences
  • Giftedness
  • School Readiness

We are able to screen for Autism Spectrum Disorder and recommend follow-up treatment and additional assessment resources if needed.

KYCARDS focuses on providing specific and developmentally appropriate feedback to parents, teens, and kids. With young children, our clinicians use Dr. Liz Angoff’s book, The Brain Building Book, in order to deliver assessment results in an understandable, individualized, and de-stigmatized manner. Parents receive this awesome book along with a hard copy and PDF version of the report.

What type of assessment do we offer?

We offer psychoeducational and psychological assessment for kids, ages 3-adulthood. We can assess for ADHD, intellectual disability, learning differences, giftedness, along with anxiety and depression. We can screen for ASD and provide recommendations for further assessment if needed.

What is the cost?
  • We offer competitive pricing for full assessments
  • Half of the payment must be received before the assessment is administered and half must be received before report is disseminated
  • We do not provide a superbill for insurance reimbursement
  • Contact Brittany at info@kycards.com or call 502-618-2060 for pricing information
How do I talk to my child about assessment?

It is important to normalize the process for the child. A statement such as “today we are completing lots of different activities to learn all about you” is both a way to normalize and de-stigmatize the process.

What are the steps in the assessment process?
  • Step 1: Free 15 minute consultation phone call with psychologist to determine fit for testing
  • Step 2: 60 minute intake with parent and/or child
  • Step 3: assessment (expect around 4 hours, but varies depending on child)
  • Step 4: 60 minute feedback session
  • Possible Step 5: Communicate recommendations with school if needed
  • The client can expect this entire process to take around 1 month
How do consents work?

We require consent from all custodial parents; this means if parents are married we still require both signatures

Where does assessment happen?

The assessment can happen at KYCARDS or the child’s school, based on needs of the family and accessibility requirements from school

What can I expect from an assessment?

Once the assessment process is complete, a family can expect to receive a report with the findings from the assessment process along with a possible diagnosis and recommendations for moving forward. KYCARDS will provide a PDF copy of the report and a hard copy during the feedback session
